PRECISIONLOADS
PRODUCT SUPERIORITY

A fundamental element to the success of PRECISIONLOADS is the recognition in the transportation industry of the technical superiority of our products, both in terms of quality of manufacture and design, and field performance. In establishing our products as the best in the industry, the standards we apply to our product development and manufacture are focused on these specific categories:

  • Ease of use by operators and ease of installation by shop personnel.

  • Higher accuracy performance under all types of environmental conditions, including temperature extremes and rapid temperature changes, exposure to moisture and corrosives, out-of-level weighing conditions, and high dynamic (off-road) scale use.

  • Long-term component reliability, designed and built to far outlast the life of the vehicle, with minimal service expense.

Some of the more important elements of the superiority of PRECISIONLOADS on-board scale equipment are:

1. Load Sensors
1.1

Built for the worst of environments. PL load cells are plated with a zinc dichromate or hard nickel plating which withstands corrosives, and resists surface scratching.

1.2

Connections. The cable connections used by PRECISIONLOADS are rated to -55 degrees C. Our systems use heavy duty nylon connectors which are encapsulation-molded to our high-strength load cell cable. There are no parts which can pull-out, corrode or be infiltrated by moisture.

1.3

Temperature compensation. PL load cells and pressure transducers are temperature and modulus compensated for stable performance over a range of +14 degrees F to +122 degrees F (-10 degrees C to +50 degrees C). This capability is important for scale stability in applications that commonly have early morning to late afternoon ambient temperature changes of 50 degrees F (28 degrees C) or more.

1.4

Machining tolerances. PRECISIONLOADS ensures that critical machining tolerances of our load sensors are as tight and controlled as possible, typically +/- 0.010" non-critical and +/- 0.001" critical areas.

1.5

Pressure transducers. Manufactured from stainless steel to very tight tolerances for superior performance. PL transducers have stainless braided output cables with rugged plastic sheathing, terminating in a cadmium plated MIL-spec connector. The performance of PL air pressure systems is also enhanced by our use of a specialized immediate-response leveling valve to avoid air suspension-related error sources. You benefit from a pressure measurement system which is more accurate and reliable, especially in off-road loading conditions.

2. Digital Electronics
2.1

2.1 Versatility. PRECISIONLOADS series 9700 models are available in single, dual and quad channel versions to suit all truck, trailer and multiple trailer applications. All systems utilize two-wire digital technology. The smart transmitter system from PL allows true automated plug-and-go interchangeability of multiple trailers with a single tractor.

2.2

Ease of Use. Both PL series 9700 and 9710 models have a secondary LCD message display, allowing simultaneous viewing of truck, trailer and total weights while loading. Calibration of your system is a simple two-step process and is fully digital.

2.3

"Bulletproof" reliability. PL in-cab and weatherproof-version electronics units are proven in many hundreds of installations worldwide. Models do not continually change as the basic design is flawless and built ruggedly to withstand all trucking and cab environments. Transmitters are sealed in encapsulated, heavy-gauge stainless steel enclosures. All connections are high strength, non-corrosive nylon, rated to -55 degrees C. Environmental units meet NEMA 4-X and 12, as well as IP-66 standards. All equipment exceeds MIL-spec 810-C standards for shock and vibration.

2.4

Diagnostics. An advanced, yet user-simple diagnostics program make troubleshooting your scale system, fast and accurate. Test numbers on each system sensor are easily checked from the safety of the cab, allowing for the quick pinpointing of any problem.

3. Installation Issues
3.1

Distributor Base, Support Literature. PRECISIONLOADS relies upon an experienced network of distributors who are fully capable of engineering, installing and servicing PL on-board scales. In areas not supported by distributors, we work directly with customers and their shop personnel to ensure scales are properly installed and calibrated. PL technical literature is very detailed yet simple to understand.

3.2

Product installation as design criteria. PRECISIONLOADS products such as the trunnion loadpin, dump truck hinge and ram pins and underbody load cell kits are among the lowest in the industry in man-hours required for installation (as well as such other benefits as lowest added tare weight, lowest profile and lowest maintenance cost).
